More from Empire Writes Back

Most everyone knows the story of Aaron Rodgers.

He fell down the first round of the 2005 draft before being chosen by Green Bay with the 24th pick.

He sat until 2008 but that was because he had Brett Favre playing in front of him.

It worked out well because Rodgers remains a tier one quarterback in the league today.

Rodgers’ ability to move extends plays as well as anyone in the league and he has countless last-minute victories thanks to his Hail Mary exploits.

For the last decade plus, no lead has been safe with Aaron Rodgers under center.

This is one example of a quarterback that Sam Darnold would love to become. Let’s see his stats after his first six starts:

  • 124-193, 64.2% completion percentage, 1,482 yards, 11 touchdowns, four interceptions, 3-3 record

Here are Darnold’s once again:

  • 107-179, 59.8% completion percentage, 1,346 yards, nine touchdowns, seven interceptions, 3-3 record

Yes, the completion percentage is a significant difference, but there aren’t any others. Rodgers was 3-3 as well. It is a fair comparison.
