Running Backs

The first two guys are pretty obvious. Bilal Powell does everything well, but just has never been the “bell-cow” back. He will remain with the team in his steady role as the third down back, despite my friend Joe Caporoso’s protests at Turn On the Jets.

Isaiah Crowell will lead the way on the early downs. Crowell has never been a guy that is at the top of anyone’s list, but he is just two years removed from a 952 yard, 4.8 yards per carry season with the Browns. Like him or not, that’s something.

Despite the injury to McGuire, he will be here as the injury won’t keep him out long. In the meantime, Trenton Cannon looks to be the guy to take the extra RB spot. His main competition, Thomas Rawls, has not had a good camp while Cannon has turned heads.

Cannon has had a tough go of things with returning kicks but he still gets reps as a running back. He makes receptions and can carry the rock, making him a valuable asset off the bench.

The big change is that we don’t have the Jets taking a fullback into the season. In a couple of slides we will show the move that will replace the fullback.
