2018 NFL Mock Draft: Final New York Giants Mock Draft
By Sean Dyer
After releasing Brandon Marshall, the New York Giants need a big-bodied receiver on the outside opposite Odell Beckham Jr. Although signing Dez Bryant is an intriguing option and can’t yet be ruled out, it seems more likely that Dez signs elsewhere.

Who better to replace Marshall than a receiver who NFL Mocks’ Erik Lambert compared to the now former Giant? Marcell Ateman has great size and the ball skills to immediately make him a red-zone threat. He has natural hands and great body control. Ateman can use his size to shield off defenders and he’s also able to adjust in the air to make contested catches. He high points the football, getting to the ball before smaller corners even have a chance. Ateman is also a willing blocker who loves to dominate cornerbacks.
Ateman would have a chance to contribute immediately, despite being a fifth-round pick, a la Stefon Diggs in 2015. Having Ateman (jump ball specialist), Evan Engram (matchup nightmare), and Beckham (athletic freak) all at Eli Manning’s disposal in the red zone could help Manning turn back the clock and have a few more productive seasons under center.

There’s my final New York Giants mock draft! Big Blue adds a pair of offensive weapons, two hog mollies, and two front seven defenders who will help transition to the new 3-4 scheme. I wasn’t able to add a cornerback, but all in all, I’d be very happy if this is how the New York Giants’ 2018 NFL Draft worked out.
