New York Giants: 5 things for fans to be thankful for
By Sean Dyer
Evan Engram and Dalvin Tomlinson Both Look Legit
For as much criticism as Jerry Reese gets for his unimpressive draft track record (which is much deserved), he appears to have gotten his top two picks in the 2017 NFL Draft right.
First-round pick Evan Engram is a matchup nightmare and a legitimate weapon in the passing game. A glorified wide receiver playing tight end, Engram is too fast for linebackers to cover but also has the size to beat defensive backs.
On the season, Engram has 41 catches for 452 yards and five touchdowns. Engram broke out after Odell Beckham Jr. was lost for the season, but having the two of them in the same passing attack next season should be fun to watch.

As for second-round pick Dalvin Tomlinson, the Giants certainly don’t miss Johnathan Hankins. Hankins ditched New York to sign with the Indianapolis Colts fairly late in the offseason, leaving a fairly large hole in the middle of the Giants defense. In fact, Hankins was the only starter not returning from one of the NFL’s top defenses in 2016.
As he’s done many times, Reese used a second-round pick to draft a defensive tackle. He selected Tomlinson who has stepped in and played better this year than Hankins did last season.
Tomlinson fits well next to Damon Harrison and could eventually take over for “Snacks” when his time is done. With the way Tomlinson is playing, the New York Giants have one of the more talented defensive lines in football. Now they just need to start playing up to their potential.
It is unknown whether or not Jerry Reese will keep his job after this season, but if he’s fired, he will have at least left the Giants with one of his better draft classes. He didn’t address the offensive line this offseason, but be thankful that he drafted two studs for the New York Giants.
