New York Jets 2017 Roster Preview: Running Backs
By Sean Dyer
Matt Forte and Bilal Powell
Matt Forte is entering his tenth year in the league and spent a majority of his career with the Chicago Bears.
During his time in Chicago, Forte was one of the best backs in the league. Not only was he a consistent 1,000-yard rusher but he was one of the best receiving backs in the NFL.
Forte has spent the last few years running more from Father Time than defenders, but he may have some more in the tank if he limits his carries.

Forte is expected to sit out the Jets preseason opener with a hamstring injury but the injury shouldn’t affect his regular season playing time.
The former Bear will be sharing the New York backfield with Bilal Powell. The Jets have already said that Powell will not play in Gang Green’s opening exhibition game with a neck injury.
Once healthy, Powell will likely handle the bulk of the carries for the Jets. Three years younger than Forte, Powell is likely New York’s running back of the future.
Bilal Powell started the last three games for Gang Green in 2017, including a strong finish, turning 22 carries into 122 yards in Week 17.
His Week 15 performance showcased what his game is all about. Powell carried the ball 16 times for 84 yards and also caught 11 passes for 78 yards.
The New York Jets hope that Bilal Powell can turn into the Matt Forte that Chicago Bears fans adored for years, a dual threat RB who keeps opposing defenses on their toes.
Between Matt Forte and Bilal Powell, Gang Green should be running the ball a lot in 2017.
