Final Depth Chart

The New York Giants need to get more out of their running game in 2017. They need a more balanced offensive attack to keep opposing defenses on their toes.

Part of the task will be up to the offensive line to improve but it also falls on the shoulders of the guys lined up in the backfield.

The Giants have a young corps of running backs who should have a better season than the 2016 group. Another year under Perkins’ belt, a healthy Vereen, and adding Gallman to the mix should result in a much improved Big Blue rushing attack.

I don’t see New York keeping a fullback. Free agent acquisition Rhett Ellison is listed as a tight end but his strength is blocking. The same can be said for Matt LaCosse. I think after going all last season without a fullback, the Giants will survive using their blocking tight ends in the backfield.

In football, you run the ball to set up the pass, so tomorrow, we’ll take a look at the wide receivers vying for spots on the New York Giants roster.

2017 NYG Running Back Depth Chart Prediction

  1. Paul Perkins
  2. Wayne Gallman
  3. Shane Vereen (No. 1 third down back)
