The New York Giants have a plethora of running backs this season. With injuries against him, is it time for Shane Vereen to work his way out of New York?

The New York Giants have a lot to look forward to heading into the 2017 campaign.

Big Blue is looking more and more like it’s championship teams of old. Especially from the defensive side of the ball.

Offensively, the New York Giants look a little different than old championship teams, but it’s for good reason.

The G-Men are using more of an air-raid attack, but it doesn’t mean they should stray from the ground game.

With the addition of Wayne Gallman, and the growth of Paul Perkins, the New York Giants are using more traditional runners.

That leaves one question: what do they do with Shane Vereen?

Vereen is only 28-years-old, but he can’t seem to shake off the injury bug. Injuries add age to running backs. Essentially, in injury years, Vereen is 35.

He makes a living in the NFL being one of the best pass-catching backs out there. In that sense, he should fit well with the New York Giants, and he has, but now, he doesn’t seem to have the same dynamic moves.

Vereen is a talented guy, but if Gallman comes on strong, I don’t think he will have a job much longer.

He will make it through the season, but he will be an Unrestricted Free Agent come 2018.

If Perkins and Gallman become the duo the New York Giants want them to be, Vereen won’t get a chance to be in Blue come that time.

When Vereen got signed, I was a big fan of the move. I still think he’s a talented player, but there just isn’t room for him on the roster anymore. It’s time for him to make it through this season, and say happy trails right after.
