MLB’s non-waiver trade deadline is July 31st. As the New York Yankees appear to be in playoff contention, every day this month we will take a look at a player who could be involved in the Yankees’ deadline activity. These players will either be current Yankees who could be traded away or players from other organizations who New York could look to acquire for the playoff push.

After looking at a few potential trade targets for the Yankees, we go back into their farm system and look at a prospect that may be used to pull off one of those trades.

As the Yankees’ struggles continue, fans are calling for upgrades at the trade deadline. Well, in order to pull off a trade, Brian Cashman will have to deal some of the prospects in his loaded farm system.

One of those prospects could be Tito Polo, who was promoted to Double-A earlier this month.

In 59 games with Single-A Tampa, prior to his promotion, Polo hit .283 with 20 extra-base hits, 42 runs, and 19 stolen bases.

With all of the prospects being called up to the big leagues recently, there have been a lot of minor leaguers moving around to fill rosters.

Polo got the call to Double-A and in his first five games, he’s hit .450 with four extra-base hits, seven runs, and three stolen bases.

The Yankees acquired Polo at the 2016 trade deadline along with left-handed pitcher Stephen Tarpley for starting pitcher Ivan Nova.

Polo has improved his stock since joining the Yankee farm system. It is possible New York could get more in return for the outfielder if they chose to involve him in a trade for the second time in as many years.

When everyone’s healthy, the Yankees have Brett Gardner, Jacoby Ellsbury, Aaron Judge, and Aaron Hicks in their major league outfield.

Polo is also behind Clint Frazier, Dustin Fowler (even with his recent injury), Blake Rutherford, Billy McKinney, and Jake Cave in New York’s minor league system.

It is hard to imagine Tito Polo playing outfield in the Bronx. Then again, Ji-Man Choi is starting at first base today for the Yanks.

With no clear path to the majors in New York, Polo is the perfect trade candidate to be shipped to a franchise that could eventually deploy him in their big league outfield.

Packaged with a couple other prospects, Polo could net the Yankees a rental first baseman such as Yonder Alonso.

In such a deep farm system, Polo is the type of player that wouldn’t be missed too much by the Yankees but could be valuable to another team.

Come back tomorrow for the profile of another Trenton Thunder player who could be packaged with Tito Polo to bring in reinforcements at the trade deadline.
