New York Knicks: Latest Updates on Carmelo Anthony
Houston Rockets
The Houston Rockets are the team that Carmelo Anthony would prefer to be with, but it is not likely he ends up there.
There are two reasons for this, the first being the competition in the West and the second being Mike D’Antoni.
If Carmelo Anthony wants to win a ring, Houston is not where he should be.
It is going to be very hard to get out of the West. First off, the Warriors are in the Western Conference and secondly, there are other competitive teams such as the Thunder.
Also, Carmelo Anthony and Mike D’Antoni have a history dating back to D’Antoni’s time as Knicks head coach. D’Antoni admitted that he quit because of the Knicks star.
With this being said, the Rockets might not want Carmelo Anthony seeing D’Antoni just won NBA Coach of the Year.
Here are the possible players the Knicks could trade Melo to Houston for:
- Ryan Anderson: Although the Knicks have said they don’t want Anderson in return for Melo, he is the player they would most likely receive.
- Eric Gordon: Eric Gordon just won Sixth Man of the Year and could significantly help the Knicks if the Rockets were willing to give him up.

It is not likely that Melo ends up in a Rockets uniform next season because of the history between him and D’Antoni, and the lack of players the Rockets have to give up.
But if they did figure out a way to get this trade done, here is what the Rockets starting lineup could look like:
PG: Chris Paul
SG: James Harden
SF: Carmelo Anthony
PF: Trevor Ariza
C: Clint Capela
