The New York Knicks currently hold the third overall pick in next month’s NBA Draft, but the question is; should they trade it for Anthony Davis, or keep it and take RJ Barrett out of Duke?

The New York Knicks finished with the worst record in the NBA in 2018-19 and unfortunately, they wound up with the third overall pick rather than the first. This means that the Knicks will not have the opportunity to take Duke standout Zion Williamson, but they will have the chance to take his teammate.

The question, however, is whether or not the Knicks will even keep their third pick. Before the 2018-19 season even started the basketball world was looking towards this upcoming offseason because of the noise the Knicks could make in free agency with their abundance of salary cap space.

The Knicks have enough room to sign two superstars, initially, the focus was Kyrie Irving and Jimmy Butler, but it has now shifted to Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant. However, the Knicks could potentially add Anthony Davis to that lineup should they trade their third pick to the Pelicans who also happen to hold the top overall pick.

This would either put the Knicks in a bind and halt their rebuild or it would pay off huge and help attract other superstars to New York, there is no in-between.

If the Knicks ended up trading their pick for Davis and didn’t reel in another superstar the trade would completely backfire because they would be stuck paying a guy they gave up everything to pick and they still would be struggling.

So with this being said, would the Knicks be better off keeping their pick and taking Canadian phenom, RJ Barrett who was outshined by only Zion Williamson, or would it be in their best interest to trade it for Anthony Davis in hopes of forming a super team?
