The New York Knicks put up a fight against the Golden State Warriors but fell short Sunday afternoon.
The New York Knicks had their hands full Sunday afternoon with a visit from the Golden State Warriors. The Knicks fought hard but were unable to keep up with the Warriors at the end, who snapped their two-game losing streak in the process.
The Warriors found success against New York early in the game, taking an 11 point lead by the end of the first quarter. The Knicks were able to battle back before halftime, winning the second quarter by 12, taking a one-point lead into halftime.
Golden State had a solid fourth quarter to open the lead back up. They looked to be on the verge of blowing the Knicks out, but New York battled right to the end, keeping the game within striking distance in the fourth quarter. The Knicks went down by as many as 13 in the fourth quarter but got as close as one point.

New York played decent defense throughout the game, holding the Warriors to 45.5 percent shooting overall and 37.1 percent from the three-point line. While the Knicks defended adequately, they lost the game at the three-point line.
The Warriors made 13-of-35 from deep, while the Knicks connected on only 7-of-22. That is essentially where the game was lost, as the Warriors made 40 shots compared to 39 for the Knicks and the Knicks made 20 free throws compared to 19 for the Warriors.
Three Stars
PF Kristaps Porzings, Knicks — Porzingis has struggled in his career against the Warriors. Draymond Green gives him a lot of problems just like he does to many players in the NBA. Today he was able to get some things going. Porzingis made 9-of-21 for 24 points, pulling down 15 rebounds as well. He added two assists and two steals for a strong game overall, the best one he has had in a while.
PG Stephen Curry, Warriors — Curry has been struggling with his shot in recent games. Unfortunately for the Knicks, he got it going a little bit today. Curry snapped out of his funk to knock down five three-pointers, scoring 31 points. He added a team-high eight rebounds along with six assists and two steals.
PG Derrick Rose, Knicks — Rose had a strong game offensively keeping up with the high power Warriors. Rose poured in a team-high 28 points, going 9-of-18 from the field. Rose was excellent in the open floor and made a living at the foul line. He made 10-of-11 from the charity stripe, the second consecutive game with double-digit free throw attempts. He also added four assists.
