New York Knicks point guard Brandon Jennings said it would be embarrassing if the Knicks do not make the playoffs.

The New York Knicks season has hit the skids. They have a 22-32 record and their season has derailed in recent weeks. The Knicks were four games over .500 on December 11th. Since then, the Knicks have done a lot of losing, going 8-22.

The Knicks have been one of the worst teams in the NBA since Christmas and in 2017, winning only six times. It has pushed the Knicks far down the standings, as they are currently in 12th place in the Eastern Conference, 3.5 games out of a playoff spot.

Missing the postseason would be a disappointment for the Knicks with the moves they made this past offseason. After selecting Kristaps Porzingis fourth overall in 2015 the Knicks looked to be heading towards a rebuild. They made solid acquisitions that offseason as well, improving to 32 wins after a franchise worst 17 in 2014-15.

But, this past offseason Phil Jackson decided to change course. He added big named veterans such as Derrick Rose via trade and spent lavishly in free agency, signing Joakim Noah and Courtney Lee to big deals. Veteran point guard Brandon Jennings was also signed to help bolster the bench unit.

Jackson was going for the quick rebuild again, and the moves have backfired. There are a lot of people, fans and people within the organization alike, that are frustrated with how the season has gone. There were some high expectations coming into the season and they have fallen well short.

Jennings has been one of the player vocal during the season about the level of play of the Knicks. He loves playing for the organization and representing the city of New York. He took to Twitter to voice some frustration, sharing how the team should feel should they miss the playoffs.

That is certainly one way to put it, and a fair assessment. With the moves the organization made in the offseason the playoffs seemed like a fair goal. They upgraded the talent on the roster, but it had not come together as they had hoped.

There are probably more people within the organization that share the feelings Jennings does; they just haven’t vocalized it. Players such as Jennings, Noah, and Lee signed with the Knicks hoping to change the culture and make a push for the postseason.

Instead, they have seen first hand the circus that the Knicks truly are. From the Carmelo Anthony trade rumors and Jackson doing his best to run him out of town to the Charles Oakley fiasco last night against, the Knicks are as dysfunctional as ever.
