New York Knicks point guard Derrick Rose was announced out vs the Washington Wizards and will most likely not suit up tomorrow night either.

The New York Knicks will be on the road tonight to face off with the Washington Wizards. They will once again be without point guard Derrick Rose, who suffered an ankle injury Friday against the Charlotte Hornets.

Head coach Jeff Hornacek said that Rose would be sidelined tonight via the Knicks official Twitter account.

This should not come as much of a surprise. The Knicks will be very careful with Rose given his extensive injury history. He has been in a walking boot to help take pressure off the ankle as well, and was still in the walking boot at Tuesday’s shootaround.

Hornacek said over the weekend that Rose could miss multiple games, and tonight will make it two in a row. Al Iannazzone of Newsday took it a step further, reporting that Hornacek said Rose would be out tonight and likely tomorrow as well against the Brooklyn Nets.

With Rose sidelined the Knicks will turn to Brandon Jennings in the starting lineup. Jennings is coming off a long Sunday afternoon when he played 53 minutes in the Knicks four overtime loss to the Atlanta Hawks.

More from New York Knicks

Jennings played well in the game, scoring 18 points with 11 assists, one steal and only one turnover. He has been very productive this season as a starter, averaging 17.6 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 6.4 assists per game.

With Jennings moving into the starting lineup, there is a good chance we see Ron Baker once again with the second unit. Baker has been solid in spot duty this season, even getting moved into the starting lineup a few weeks ago to shake things up. He should handle the backup point guard duties as long as Rose is out. Sasha Vujacic could see some minutes as well if there is foul trouble or ineffectiveness.

Rose has had an up-and-down season with the Knicks. He has shown flashes of his old athleticism and explosiveness but has also looked disinterested at times on the court. He also had the bizarre incident when he went AWOL early in January.
