New York Knicks rumors: Point guard Derrick Rose could miss multiple games because of his ankle injury suffered against the Charlotte Hornets.
New York Knicks rumors have revolved around Carmelo Anthony in recent days. There has been plenty of rumors circulating about a trade involving Anthony going down before the NBA Trade Deadline. While talk will continue on that topic, some focus has turned to point guard Derrick Rose.
Rose was injured Friday night in the Knicks’ victory over the Charlotte Hornets. Rose injured his ankle and was forced to the locker room in the third quarter; he did not return to the game. Rose missed Sunday’s marathon to the Atlanta Hawks and could be sidelined for multiple more games.
Rose sprained his left ankle against the Hornets and was in a protective boot Sunday. The boot was being worn to relieve pressure on the injury. Head coach Jeff Hornacek believes Rose will be out for Tuesday’s game against the Washington Wizards and possibly more.
"“I don’t want to say because you never know with an ankle,” Hornacek said."

There won’t be much recovery time for Rose this week. The Knicks have a back-to-back set that finishes up with a game against the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday. But, they then have two days off before facing off with the Cleveland Cavaliers in primetime on Saturday night.
One positive for Rose is that the x-rays came back negative. He said that the ankle started throbbing right away when it was injured, but it did not swell. Rose also mentioned it was improving with each passing day.
"“It feels better every day,” Rose said Sunday. “You know with knee to ankle and hamstring injuries, I just have to take my time with it and listen to my body and I think that’s what I’m doing right now.”"
Rose has been relatively healthy for the Knicks this season after battling injuries for a majority of the past five seasons. He has missed four games because of back spasms and one because of a family issue earlier this month. Sunday’s absence was his sixth missed game of the season.
"“I feel great,” Rose said. “Playing the amount of games I’m playing in I almost feel like a rookie.”"

With Rose sidelined the Knicks backcourt depth will be tested. Brandon Jennings should assume the starting role until he is healthy enough to return. His main backup will be Ron Baker; we could also see Sasha Vujacic get some minutes.
