The Los Angeles Rams traded up in the 2016 NFL Draft to select Jared Goff  with the first overall pick, and that means that Nick Foles won’t be their starting quarterback this coming season. The decision to draft Goff is both to hopefully improve the team on the field, and also to provide them with a face to the franchise for the move to Los Angeles.

Foles was acquired from the Philadelphia Eagles for Sam Bradford prior to the start of the 2015 season, but he did not play very well for the Rams. Last season, Foles totaled a 4-7 record, seven touchdown passes, and 10 interceptions.

It wasn’t too long ago that Foles had a magnificent season with the Eagles in 2013 when he totaled 27 touchdown passes and two interceptions. That great season will likely always be in the back of organizations minds, as someone might believe they can him close to that form.

The Jets have actually been linked to Foles this offseason, but so far they haven’t shown a ton of interest. If Fitzpatrick doesn’t sign before the season starts, the Jets might entertain the idea of trading for Foles if he is still on the Rams.
