ESPN’s Matt Bowen believes that USC cornerback Adoree’ Jackson would be a great fit for the New York Jets.

The New York Jets enter the 2017 NFL Draft with a lot of needs. It will be impossible to hit them all in one draft as the Jets embark on their rebuilding process. The only position that looks to be out of the question for the Jets in the 2017 NFL Dra the t is defensive line; they are set there with arguably the best defensive line trio in the NFL with Leonard Williams, Sheldon Richardson, and Muhammad Wilkerson.

One position the Jets could address early in the draft is the secondary. What was expected to be a strength for the Jets turned into a weak link last season. The secondary was a disaster for the Jets in 2016, so Mike Maccagnan is looking to overhaul that unit.

Darrelle Revis was released after a poor 2016. Buster Skrine remains but struggled when pressed into a bigger role. Marcus Gilchrist and Calvin Pryor both have cloudy futures as they have struggled mightily the past two seasons.

Luckily for the Jets, this is a loaded draft class in the secondary. The Jets would love if someone such as Jamal Adams fell to them at No.3 tonight. If he doesn’t fall, the Jets need not worry. Two Ohio State products, cornerback Marshon Lattimore and Malik Hooker, would look great in green.

If the Jets decide to go in a different direction in Round One, they could find a very productive cornerback in Round Two. One player to keep an eye on is USC cornerback Adoree’ Jackson.

Jackson would bring some much-needed athleticism to the Jets roster. He is a multi-faceted player, as he is also a dynamic return man in addition to good cornerback. ESPN’s Matt Bowen made an article that matched some prospects with their best fits in the NFL. His selection for Jackson was the Jets.

Here is part of what Bowen said about Jackson.

"Jackson projects as a nickel cornerback as a rookie. His footwork? It’s super smooth. And he has the ball skills (five interceptions in 2016) plus the long speed (4.42) to match up in the pro game. Adding to his value is his game-breaking ability as a returner and occasional offensive weapon."

Along with the Jets, Bowen said that Jackson would be a great fit for the New Orleans Saints. Part of the reason he matched Jackson with those teams is the versatility he would bring to the roster.

The Saints manufacture offense as well as any team with Sean Payton and Brew Brees leading the way; they would find a way to utilize Jackson on that side of the ball. The Jets do not have Payton or Brees on their sideline but would be able to find room for Jackson on offense as well. With their dearth of offensive talent, getting Jackson’s athleticism and game-breaking ability on the field is a no-brainer.

Jackson has a late first round, early second round grade on him; right where the Saints and Jets are selecting. If the Jets can land Jackson they will have acquired one of the most exciting players in the draft.

Jackson would not only help the team on defense but also chip in offensively. Jackson is also an outstanding return man, as he could help the Jets solve their problems in the return game.
