The New York Jets were able to defeat the Washington Redskins in Week 6 by a score of 34-20. With the victory, the Jets already matched their season win total from 2014, taking only six weeks and five games of this season to do so.

It was a tale of two halves for the Jets, who struggled in the first two quarters with turnovers. But, they got things turned around in the last two quarters as they thoroughly dominated the Redskins.

The Jets were actually losing at halftime of this game 13-10, as all three of their turnovers led directly to Redskins points. But once the Jets were able to get things together offensively, they were able to overpower a Redskins team that was without six starters. It turned into a route in the second half, as the Redskins only managed to score a touchdown once the game was out of reach with the Jets leading by three touchdowns.

This was an encouraging win for a Jets team that has started the season off hot. Coming off a bye week from London, the Jets looked like they had some rust to shake off, as the first half did not look like the same team from the first four games of the season. But, once they got their feet underneath themselves it was game over for the Redskins, who just didn’t have the firepower to match up with the Jets.

With the victory, the Jets now move to a strong 4-1 on the season. It sets up a big time matchup in Week 7 with their AFC East rivals in the New England Patriots. That is a game that will be for first place in the division, and it was encouraging to see the Jets take care of business against the Redskins and not look forward to a bigger game.

Before we get to covering that game, let’s get a little more in depth with the game the Jets finished up with the Redskins. Check out our full team grades for the Jets from their fourth victory of the season over the Redskins.
