Zach Wilson's run in New York will soon be over. Things never seemed to work between Wilson and Gang Green. As we approach the offseason, both sides are looking to move on with fresh starts.

ESPN's New York Jets reporter Rich Cimini reached out to three personnel executives, one scout, and two assistant coaches from other teams to get a feel for Wilson's trade value. The responses were quite underwhelming.

The common consensus surrounding Wilson's value is a sixth or seventh-rounder. A team may be willing to swap mid-round picks if they want to take a chance on him being their backup quarterback. Wilson's draft pedigree is something that works in his favor.

He was the second overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft coming out of BYU. Wilson owns a rocket of arm and can flick his wrist, throwing the ball 50-plus yards downfield.

Wilson is still just 24 years old and can revive his career elsewhere under a new coaching staff. One assistant raved about his arm talent but alluded to what Wilson needs to improve on.

"The only trade value for him is his arm talent, meaning he can make all the throws," the assistant coach said of Wilson. "But the biggest thing, he has to become more mature and be consistent in everything, especially his decision making. There were flashes this year, but obviously not enough."

It's a mystery what the Jets will receive in a trade for Wilson but one thing is locked in. He will not be returning to New York for the 2024 campaign.
