If there's one team that needs help solving their infield woes it's the New York Yankees. For most of the season, they haven't received quality production from their infielders outside of Anthony Volpe.

According to ESPN's Jorge Castillo, New York has reportedly shown interest in Cincinnati Reds infielder Jonathan India. Castillo adds that it's uncertain if Cincinnati is ready to depart with India unless they drop out of the playoff race. The team sits four games behind the last spot in the NL wild-card race.

India, 27, is having a nice bounce-back season following a couple of rough seasons. This year, he has eight home runs and drawing walks in 12.7% of his plate appearances, while only striking out 19.7% of the time.

His slash line for this season also explains why he's having a good year. He has been slashing .275/.377/.420 along with a 123 wRC+. India also can hit well in the leadoff spot, which is something the Yankees are also lacking.

If Cincinnati does trade India, the cost shouldn't be too high. The Yankees have the pieces to get the deal done if talks start to heat up. Both teams have a history when it comes to trading with one another.

The last time both teams traded with one another dates back to July 2021. New York shipped relievers Luis Cessa and Justin Wilson in exchange for a player to be named later. Cincinnati would send Justin Parker to New York to complete the deal.
