Yankees Make Splashy Trade To Acquire an All-Star Outfielder
The New York Yankees desperately needed to bolster their roster as their current skid continues to get more and more embarrassing. Opposing teams knew that outside of Aaron Judge and Juan Soto, no one in this lineup could beat you.
That should change as the New York Yankees have made a trade with the Miami Marlins acquiring superstar Jazz Chisholm.
Yankees News: New York Acquires Jazz Chisholm
The move gives the Yankees a three-headed monster atop the order alongside Judge and Soto. The Yankees adding Chisholm provides another power threat that is also left-handed while adding another player that can be a threat on the base paths. On the season Chisholm is hitting .249 with 13 home runs and 50 RBIs.
The biggest question is where’s Chisholm going to play in the field. If he’s going to play second base, Gleyber Torres’ time in New York is likely done but if he’s playing the outfield, Alex Verdugo may be on the move.
The Yankees now have help on the way as Giancarlo Stanton, Jasson Dominguez, and Chisholm are all going to join a team that has struggled to drive in runs.
The Yankees aren’t getting just a rental home in Chisholm either as he won’t hit free agency until 2027 giving the team a massive building block going forward. The reported return is three prospects headlined by the Yankees 20th ranked prospect Agustin Ramires, which is an absolute steal for the Yankees.
As this Yankees skid continued to worsen, fans began to ask when Cashman may finally lose his job. The Yankees needed to get better and fast, otherwise Cashman risked losing his job with a disappointing finish. Now that Cashman is all in, this should be the first of many moves that could make this team a contender again.
