The New York Yankees just got swept by the New York Mets capping off what was a season sweep of all four games for the Mets. The Yankees' issues are shining through as they've won just 7 of their last 20 games and they've won 15 of their last 40 games. It's becoming clear that the Yankees have far too many holes with their current roster to win a World Series.

The trade deadline is right around the corner and if you're hoping for wholesale changes, you likely won't get them. The latest buzz is that the New York Yankees are interested in signing pitcher Rich Hill.

The issue isn't with Hill as he's had an incredible career spending 19 seasons in the Major Leagues. The Yankees' plan to fix the pitching issues is to sign a 44-year-old pitcher who has yet to pitch this season? Hill's best days are clearly behind him as he posted a 5.41 ERA in 2023 and a 4.27 ERA in 2022 with the Red Sox.

The Yankees have two of the best hitters in the sport one of which is going to be a free agent at the end of this season and their move is going to be to acquire Rich Hill. The Yankees should be going all in, making massive moves to maximize their chances at winning the World Series but, they're instead targeting cheap options on the free agency market.

This current stretch has exposed how badly the lineup has been built outside of Aaron Judge and Juan Soto as the Yankees' offense struggles to push runs across. You have to imagine if this group continues to struggle, Aaron Boone could lose his job in season while Brian Cashman could be looking for a new job this off-season. The best way to preserve Cashman's job would be to make a massive deal this week.
