The MLB season is right around the corner with Opening Day slated to start on Mar. 28. The New York Yankees are both eager and antsy to get things rolling but the injury bug has been around the ball club this spring.

Aaron Judge has been dealing with an abdominal injury over the past week that has kept him out of spring training and batting practice.

Now more bad news has arrived for the Yankees. According to Yankees reporter Bryan Hoch, DJ LeMahieu has a significant bone bruise on his right foot and his status for Opening Day is up in the air according to manager Aaron Boone.

The Yankees are opening the season against the Houston Astros on Mar. 28 at Minute Maid Park and may be down two of their best players.

If the bone bruise is something that could linger throughout the beginning of the year, the Bronx Bombers would be wise to let LeMahieu recover.

He provides the Yankees with a consistent hitter who has good plate coverage. He also plays solid defense and has a strong arm from the corner.

Last year, the 35-year-old had a .243 batting average with 15 home runs and 44 RBIs in 136 games played.

The pressure for the Yankees to make a deep postseason run is beginning to mount and they aren't off to a good start with these injuries.

As we approach the start of the season, New York is still the favorite at +150 to win the AL East according to FanDuel Sportsbook. Head over there now to lock in these odds and back the Yankees.
