Xavier McKinney Posts Another Cryptic Tweet as Free Agency Approaches
The focus of NFL teams has shifted to the 2024 season. The scouting combine will take place this week in Indianapolis and free agency is quickly approaching. The legal tampering period opens on March 11th at 12 p.m. ET while free agency officially begins on March 13th at 4 p.m. ET, along with the new league year.
The Giants have a few important pending free agents and safety Xavier McKinney is one of them. McKinney has been in New York since being selected as a second-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Across four seasons, McKinney has compiled 279 total tackles, nine interceptions, and two forced fumbles.
The Alabama product is now scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent and he looking to get paid. But over the past few years, there have been some interesting situations featuring McKinney.
Xavier McKinney Takes to Social Media with Cryptic Tweet
In 2022, McKinney suffered a hand injury on a freak ATV accident during a bye week that forced him to miss eight games. This past season, the 25-year-old called out coaches for not "listening to the players".
Fast forward a few months down the line and McKinney is voicing his opinion on social media. I mean, it's his account so he can do what he wants, but what are the meanings behind these messages? Does he want Giants management to see it? Does he want out? It's hard to decipher what he's trying to say.
One certain thing is that New York has the funds to re-sign McKinney if they would like. Per Overthecap, the Giants are sitting on $30 million in cap space.
