Woody Johnson Takes Delusional Stance on Zach Wilson
It was just a few years ago that the New York Jets selected Zach Wilson with the No. 2 overall pick to become the franchise quarterback for Gang Green.
Things never got off the ground and Wilson has fallen right on his face in the Big Apple. The BYU product struggled immensely scanning the field and keeping his composure when things started getting shaky under center.
Wilson's tenure in New York had a ticking time clock once the Jets acquired Aaron Rodgers from the Green Bay Packers last offseason.
Other players from that 2021 draft class like Trey Lance, Mac Jones, and Justin Fields have all been traded to new organizations but Wilson's future is still undecided.
Owner Woody Johnson met with reporters on Mar. 25 and has a delusional stance on Wilson. He said that New York won't just "release Wilson" and called him an "asset".
Jets News: Woody Johnson Said the Jets Won't Just Release Zach Wilson
The Jets would be better suited if they just cost their losses and parted ways with the 24-year-old. Both Fields and Jones were traded for sixth-round picks this offseason and the Jets aren't going to get better offers.
In three seasons with New York, Wilson has completed 57% of his passes for 6,293 passing yards, 23 passing touchdowns, and 25 interceptions.
It's time to pull the plug whether it's a trade or just releasing Wilson. A fresh start is needed for both sides.
Free agency has shown that the Jets are all in for 2024 but they are still underdogs to win the AFC East. They are currently behind the Buffalo Bills and the Miami Dolphins at +280 to win the division. If you like these odds, head over to FanDuel Sportsbook and take advantage of your sign-up bonus.
