The New York Jets have been one of the most active teams in the NFL this offseason, bringing in Tyron Smith, Mike Williams, Morgan Moses, and John Simpson. GM Joe Douglas understands there's pressure to win in 2024 and he's leaving no stone unturned.

The Jets lost edge rusher Bryce Huff to the Philadelphia Eagles early on in free agency. Since then, they have been on the hunt to find a replacement.

Free agent Jadeveon Clowney visited the team last week and the Jets are motivated to get a deal done. Per Bleacher Report's Jordan Schultz, both sides have been in "constant contact" since the meeting.

Jets Rumors: New York Hopes to Seal the Deal with Jadeveon Clowney

The Jets will have Jermaine Johnson and Will McDonald coming off the edge for them in 2024 but they need someone else on that defensive front. New York loves to rotate upfront to keep those guys fresh throughout the game.

Clowney would be a home-run addition in what has already been a good free agency for Gang Green. The former 2014 first-overall pick impacts the game as both a run defender and pass rusher. The 31-year-old sets the edge against the run and is relentlessly collapsing the pocket.

Last season with the Baltimore Ravens, he finished with 43 total tackles and tied for a career-high 9.5 sacks. Additionally, he notched 71 total pressures and recorded an 85.7 PFF grade.

Despite being 31 years old, Clowney has a lot left in the tank.

Free agency has shown that the Jets are all in for 2024 but they are still underdogs to win the AFC East. They are currently behind the Buffalo Bills and the Miami Dolphins at +280 to win the division. If you like these odds, head over to FanDuel Sportsbook and take advantage of your sign-up bonus.
