The 3 Best Free Agents the New York Giants Can Still Sign
The New York Giants had a solid NFL Draft landing several players who have an opportunity to start from the moment the season kicks off. The Giants have built what could be a playoff-contending roster if they can fill the few holes in the roster they still have.
Luckily for the New York Giants, there are still several high-caliber players the team can still sign to fill its few holes. Let's take a look.
Jerick McKinnon - Running Back
The New York Giants certainly need to improve their running back room heading into the 2024 season. The team seemingly missed out on their top targets at the position in the draft before landing Tyron Tracy Jr. from Purdue. The issue is that Tracy is far from a finished product at running back, spending the majority of his career at wide receiver.
The Giants could look to add a veteran running back with Super Bowl experience in Jerick McKinnon. The Chiefs have done little to re-sign McKinnon, however, he can still be a productive back in the NFL despite a down year in Kansas City.
McKinnon wasn't asked to do much for the Chiefs in 2023, rushing for just 60 yards and a touchdown due to the emergence of Isiah Pacheco.
The Giants need to add a veteran back behind Devin Singletary until Tyron Tracy proves he's ready at the NFL level. The veteran back won't cost the Giants much in terms of salary and he can be a mentor for a back like Tyron Tracy. The Chiefs also used McKinnon in a backup role which he embraced. That should be replicable in New York.
