GM Joe Schoen has publicly supported and backed quarterback Daniel Jones ever since he came to the Big Apple. In 2023, the Giants and Jones agreed on a four-year, $160 million deal to make him their franchise quarterback for the long term.

Things went left for both sides this past season. Jones suffered a torn ACL that forced him to miss the entire campaign. Prior to that, the Duke product sustained his second serious neck injury that sidelined him for a stretch of games.

Having the face of your franchise injured like that is going to harm your club.

The NFL Scouting Combine is the first event of the offseason that basically kicks off the new year. It allows the entire NFL world to be in one location and just talk football. That's also how rumors begin to swirl about what certain teams are thinking or plan to do. That was the case this year regarding the New York Giants.

NFL Network's Rich Eisen said on the Rich Eisen Show, "The Giants are absolutely done with Daniel Jones. Might have to play him this year but that ain't it. The words I heard at the combine multiples times were buyers remorse."

Giants Rumors: New York is Reportedly Done with Daniel Jones

That's a really alarming statement coming from an organization that just dished out a mega-extension just one year ago. Jones has never been seen as a Top-10 quarterback since entering the league so it was shocking that New York paid him as such.

In five seasons with the Giants, Jones has notched 12,512 passing yards, 1,914 rushing yards, 75 total touchdowns, and 54 turnovers. Additionally, he hasn't thrown for 15-plus touchdowns since his rookie year in 2019.

Schoen and head coach Brian Daboll didn't even draft Jones so you can see why they would want to move on from him. But it makes you question, why did they even extend Jones in the first place?

Who knows but it certainly sounds like the GMen are ready to part ways with Jones in the near future.
