The New York Jets will likely be one of the most aggressive teams during the offseason. Everyone in the building knows they have to win in 2024 to keep their jobs going forward. Per OvertheCap, the Jets are sitting on $12.7 million in cap space. However, that could easily rise with cuts and contract restructures.

They have clear-cut needs at wide receiver, offensive line, and backup quarterback, but there is a sneaky need that fans may be overlooking.

Jets Rumors: Kamren Curl Named "Best Fit" for New York

New York currently has Tony Adams as the only safety under contract heading into the 2024 campaign. Jordan Whitehead, who has been with the Jets for the past two years, is scheduled to hit the open market. Chuck Clark is also going to be a free agent in March.

The Jets acquired Clark from the Baltimore Ravens in 2023, but he suffered a torn ACL last July that forced him to miss the entire season.

The Jets have an elite defense with a secondary that features All-Pro Sauce Gardner, D.J. Reed, and Michael Carter II. Despite that, they need someone else in the backend.

ESPN's Matt Bowen lists the Jets as the perfect fit for safety Kamren Curl. He's been with the Washington Commanders since 2020 after being selected in the 7th round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

Curl is an instinctive defender who can line up in the box or over the top with ease. The Arkansas product can hold his own in man coverage and has the IQ to disguise multiple looks when he's over the top.

In four seasons, the 24-year-old has recorded 385 total tackles, five sacks, two fumble recoveries, and three interceptions. If the Jets can come to terms with Curl, he will be an immediate plug-and-play starting safety for New York in 2024.

The Jets believe they have a championship roster but need to make a few tweaks in the offseason. With Aaron Rodgers returning, they should make the playoffs and could be a dark horse.
