The New York Jets are entering a make-or-break season with plenty of decision-makers and players having their jobs on the line. After the team's playoff drought reached 13 years after last season's disappointment, Jets fans are growing increasingly impatient with the front office. This puts a significant amount of pressure on general manager Joe Douglas.

The front office needs to nail the offseason to ensure the Jets return to postseason football in 2024. That starts with free agency.

The New York Jets and Trent Brown are Match Made in Heaven

The Jets don't have significant cap space heading into free agency but they can create more with some maneuvering. They will need to do that if they want to make the necessary additions to the roster.

One glaring need for New York is the offensive line. After having one of the most porous offensive lines in football, the Jets certainly need to address the trenches to protect Aaron Rodgers next season. The best way to do so is to get an elite offensive tackle in free agency or the draft.

Fortunately for the Jets, one of the best tackles in the league just became a free agent.

Trent Brown, who spent the last three seasons with the New England Patriots, is hitting the market in March after the sides failed to reach an extension. Despite his season being derailed by injuries, Brown was still the 11th-highest-ranked player in his position.

The 30-year-old tackle was one of the few functioning parts of the Patriots' offense last season, despite having his issues with the organization.

PFF projects Brown to get a deal for around two years and $15 million. Unless the Jets decide to address the need at the draft, they are unlikely to do better than Brown for their offensive line.
