The New York Jets are starting their second day of mandatory minicamp on Wednesday, but questions remain. There are two massive pieces of the team missing as Haason Reddick continues his holdout for a new contract while Aaron Rodgers is also not in attendance.

When asked by the media where Rodgers was Robert Saleh said the following:

"Aaron and I spoke before OTAs started. He's been very good in communication, he's been here the entire time. It's unexcused, but he had an event that was very important to him, which he communicated to me."

While the absence shouldn't affect the team when the season starts and Rodgers deserves credit after showing up the entire off-season this issue is a distraction. When the Jets were dealing with fallout from a story in the Athletic about the Zach Wilson fiasco Rodgers said the following:

"The bulls--t that has nothing to do with winning, needs to get out of the building."

This story has taken on a world of its own with how polarizing Rodgers is and what many are guessing he may be doing. This could have been a non-story if Robert Saleh hadn't used the phrase unexcused or if he just took a different approach with what he said.

The uncertainty only continued on Wednesday, as the Athletic's Diana Russini said Rodgers will be missing the entire mandatory minicamp for unknown reasons.

2024-25 season is already off to a rocky start

After another drama filled year, Jets fans were looking forward to a season with less chaos and headlines. The start to the season has been anything but normal as the Jets are missing arguably their biggest off-season acquisition and their starting quarterback at mandatory minicamp. it's up to Saleh and Joe Douglas to fix this fast as every day that Reddick isn't at camp starts to make the trade even more puzzling.
