3 Teams Desperate Enough to Trade for Zach Wilson
The relationship between Zach Wilson and the New York Jets is coming to an end. The Jets have given Wilson permission to seek a trade as both sides look to go their separate ways.
Wilson was selected with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft to be this team's franchise quarterback but that never happened. The 24-year-old struggled with accuracy and post-snap reads the most during his tenure in New York.
He'll finish his Jets career completing 57% of his passes for 6,293 passing yards with 23 passing touchdowns and 25 interceptions.
With that being said, the Jets are likely to get Day 3 compensation in return for Wilson. Below we'll discuss three teams that could look at bringing in the BYU product.
1. Minnesota Vikings
At this point in his career, it would be best if Wilson was sent to a team with an offensive mind as the head coach. Kevin O'Connell is the perfect guy who can take Wilson's natural traits and get the best of out him.
Currently, the Vikings have Kirk Cousins hitting the open market as an unrestricted free agent in March. Unfortunately Cousins tore his Achilles last season and will be rehabbing his way back onto the field.
Who knows what the Vikings will do at quarterback but there is a very good chance that Cousins returns to Minnesota.
But the No. 2 QB spot is certainly available. O'Connell is a great mind that puts his quarterbacks in the best situation to succeed.
Over the last 25 games under O'Connell, Cousins threw for 6,878 passing yards, 47 passing touchdowns, and 19 interceptions.
Wilson sitting back Cousins in a smaller market could do wonders for his play and confidence.
