New York Knicks: A Look at Head Coach Candidates
By Teresa Powe
The Knicks have added the ninth candidate. Here follows a quick rundown of the assistant coaches being interviewed.
According to the New York Post’s Marc Berman‘s update Friday afternoon at 12:48 pm,
Jamahl Mosley – Knicks asked Mark Cuban for permission to interview this assistant to Rick Carlisle, making him the fifth assistant coach to be interviewed for the head coach position.
Ime Udoka – Knicks interview lead assistant coach to Brett Brown. This is Udoka’s first season as a lead assistant as Udoka previously worked under the Spurs’ Gregg Popovich.
Chris Fleming – Fleming is currently lead assistant coach to the Chicago Bulls Jim Boylen. Fleming has extensive experience as a head coach in Germany.

Becky Hammon – Ms. Hammon is currently assistant coach to the Spurs’ Gregg Popovich.
All of the candidates interviewing for this position are solid. The question is, are the Knicks ready for a solid coach? Are they ready to rebuild or are they going for it right now?
I believe that with the right coach this young core of Knicks’ players can make it to the playoffs. Not all of the players obtained in free agency last year were busts. I think we should keep Reggie Bullock and Elfrid Payton, add maybe a vet (Carmelo Anthony) or two (Chris Paul?) to help train them up.
Regardless this 50-year fan would love to see some movement in the right direction.
