New York Giants kicker Aldrick Rosas, was arrested on Monday after getting in a car wreck and fleeing the scene.

The New York Giants had one of the best kickers in the NFL in 2018 in Aldrick Rosas as he made 32 of his 33 attempted field goals, 31 of his 32 attempted extra points, and was selected to his first career Pro Bowl.

In 2019, Rosas fell off quite a bit and made only 12 of his 17 attempted field goals and 35 of his 39 attempted extra points. Now, the Giants might be looking for a new kicker, and it’s not because of Rosas’ 2019 performance.

On Monday, June 15th, Rosas was arrested after t-boning a car and fleeing the scene. Not only did he flee the scene, but cops also believe alcohol was a factor in this incident.

Rosas’ vehicle reportedly broke down shortly after the incident and he then got out of the car and started running. When he was eventually stopped for questioning, it was reported that his hands, legs, and feet were all covered in blood.

Rosas was booked at the Butte County Jail on charges of a hit-and-run and driving on a suspended license, but as mentioned earlier, cops also believe alcohol may have been a factor in the accident.

The question is; what happens now? Will the Giants release Rosas, or will they hold onto him because of his impressive play?

These are questions we won’t get answers to for a little while due to the fact that the incident just occurred, but it will be an interesting response nonetheless. Rosas is now the second Giant to be arrested this offseason, joining the likes of cornerback, DeAndre Baker who was arrested in May.

If the Giants do wind up cutting Rosas, it will force them to find a new kicker before the season gets underway in only a couple of months. Here are a couple of kickers who are still on the market heading into the 2020 season:

In addition to each of these, there are also plenty of young kickers out of college who weren’t drafted this year and are eager to get a call. Nonetheless, if the Giants do end up cutting Rosas, there certainly is not a shortage of kickers on the market and they will be able to get their hands on a decent player.
