It’s that time of year again were Jets fans get cautiously optimistic that this year will be different. This new coach, free agent signings and draft class will be the group that finally turns things around. Once again though, Jets fans will be wrong.

Quarterback and Dick Tracy bad guy Sam Darnold will continue to be inconsistent. Le’Veon Bell will remind everyone why smart GM’s move on from running backs after their first contract. Additionally, Adam Gase will confirm what most of us already know, he shouldn’t even be running an XFL team.

More from New York Jets

The team has two factors in its favor, a strong defense and a mostly easy schedule. I think they will come out the gate 1-6 after beating the Bill’s this Sunday then losing their next six games.

Then comes the Dolphins (2x), Bengals, Skins, and soon to be Las Vegas Grudens. Those games will help them get back to .500.

At that point, delusional Gang Green fans will think they are on a hot streak and could surprise people. Not just get into, but be dangerous in the playoffs. They will trade wins and losses over their final four games.

The 2019 season ends with an 8-8 record because they are the New York Jets and that is the tragedy of their existence. All roads eventually lead to disappointment.

There you have it. According to our staff, The New York Jets will be between 9-7 and 7-9. Most likely they build a strong foundation for 2020 with a .500, 8-8 record.
