Wrong man

The only person who deserves ire from Giants fans is Dave Gettleman because Jones had no control of the situation. Further, the way Big Blue’s GM has handled the situation since making the pick has made matters even worse. To review:

Gettleman made a poor selection, by taking Jones with the sixth pick overall. While constantly trying to justify why Jones was selected in that slot GMDG, was both smug and condescending. He acted as if he knew everything about football and anyone who questioned him was stupid. Side note, somewhere outside of Boston, in a dimly lit office, a man doing his best Montgomery Burns impression is twiddling his thumbs and saying “You think you know more about football than me, ay Gettleman?”

Finally, behind all the smoke and smug, a big lie was uncovered. The GM said if he didn’t select Jones at six, there were two other teams that would have selected the former Duke signal caller. News reports have surfaced showing that was an outright lie. Either that or Gettleman is the biggest sucker in the NFL.

Which one of the two crimes is worse, is up to each New York Giants fan to decide on his or her own. For me, if Gettleman is a liar, then nothing changes because I don’t believe anything he says anyway. If he’s a sucker, that’s a huge problem, but not one to dwell on here.
