New York Knicks should trade the third overall pick
By Mike Marrano
New Orleans scenario
Before the draft lottery took place, the Knicks were playing with the idea of trading the number one overall pick to the Pelicans for Anthony Davis. That idea is still floating around even if the Knicks have the third overall pick. Davis has made it very clear that even with the acquisition of Zion Williamson, he would like a trade out of the Big Easy.

Davis has proved to be one of the top stars in the league, averaging 25.9 points with 12 boards, and 3.9 assists over his seven-year career. Many teams want Davis, such as the Los Angeles Lakers. The L.A. LeBron’s are expected to make a huge push for the six-time all-star, using the massive amount of young, talented players they have.
L.A. came close to putting Davis in gold and purple before the trade deadline earlier this season. To acquire “The Brow” NYK needs to make a serious offer including the third overall pick. A trade of that magnitude wouldn’t be for just the third overall pick.
If the Knicks are serious about being a legitimate championship contender next year, they must revamp the entire roster in order to get Davis. This includes players like Knox, Smith Jr., and Robinson with the third pick packaged in there as well.
New Orleans already has the first overall pick. The possibility of having both the first and third pick is something to they really must heavily consider. Especially if it gives the Pelicans an opportunity to pair up Williamson and Barrett again. The stockpile of young talent they would be able to put on their roster for next year could be enough for them to trade AD to New York.
The Knicks struck out on getting Zion, and now they must look at every option to make them attractive to incoming free agents. With reports that the Knicks may not be entirely sold on Barrett, trading the third overall pick would be the best option to re-make the roster with players that could attract other big-time players.
