Final Thoughts

One year ago nobody expected the Nets to be in the current position they find themselves in this offseason. With their late-game success and hunger to make the playoffs, this team owns the recipe for success moving forward.

Brooklyn has progressed faster than the Sacramento Kings, who are their exact copies in the Western Conference. While it is true that the Nets have an easier road by simply being in the less superior conference, they must take advantage and continue to improve behind the leadership of coach Kenny Atkinson and D’Angelo Russell.

With Russell recently voicing his willingness to return to the Nets, he will definitely continue to lead this young team to eventual championship contention. The former Ohio State Buckeye is an obvious frontrunner to win the NBA’s Most Improved Player Award this season and has earned a hefty paycheck when he is re-signed this summer.

As Spencer Dinwiddie, Caris LeVert, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, and Jarrett Allen aim to improve their games this summer, Brooklyn has become an attractive free agency destination. I believe with the roster they have now, they can lure at least one notable free agent in to help lead this group and continue being the best team in New York.

Who knows, maybe a star free agent will choose Brooklyn over the bright lights of Madison Square Garden, especially since they are currently the better franchise until further notice.

It is indeed an exciting time for Brooklyn basketball.
