Round One – 17th overall pick

Who the Giants select with the pick they obtained for Odell Beckham Jr. is very dependent on who they select sixth. 13 Different players showed up on various mock drafts, led by Duke quarterback Daniel Jones. Two other players got multiple votes, Washington State tackle Andre Dillard and Ole Miss wide receiver DK Metcalf.

If the G-Men spend the sixth overall on a signal caller, they will most likely use the 17th pick for someone who can complement the quarterback selected. Either a wide receiver or offensive lineman would greatly help the offense. The Giants other option would be for a much needed defensive player.

The hulking tackle, Dillard, would be a fantastic addition to the offensive line. He did a great job blocking in Washington State’s complex “Air Raid” offense. Additionally, without Beckham, the G-Men lack an offensive threat from the outside. Metcalfe or Marquise Brown could be a good fit. Conversely, if the Giants take a different path with their first pick there might still be a good signal caller left on the board.

In that case, Jones could be an attractive option. The former Duke quarterback played for the same college head coach Eli Manning did, David Cutcliffe. He is very athletic for his size (6-5, 230 pounds) and possesses a strong arm. A 60 percent passer over his three years with the Blue Devils, Jones threw for 8,201 yards and 52 touchdowns.

Other players receiving votes were: Mississippi wide receivers AJ Brown and Metcalf, edge rusher Brian Burns – Florida State, CB Greedy Williams – LSU, WR Marquise Brown – Oklahoma, DLs Christian Wilkins, Clelin Ferrell and Dexter Lawrence – Clemson, OL Cody Ford – Oklahoma, LB Devin Bush – Michigan, and DT Ed Oliver – Houston.
