Defense Cannot Let Up

For all of the things that could be set about the offense last week, the opposite could be said about the defense.

Brock Osweiler was held to 139 yards passing. Frank Gore only ran for 53 yards on twenty carries, a 2.7 yards per carry average. The Dolphins scored six points on the afternoon. That’s about as good of a game by an NFL defense as you will ever see.

For the Jets to have a shot in this one, the defense must play with the same type of intensity. If they look past the Bills to the bye and to the Patriots, this game will become ugly.

We cannot expect the offense to play big, though conceivably they could. The offense hasn’t given us a lot of signs making us think they are going to come out of their slump.

Even with McCown throwing more accurately than Darnold, he can’t catch the passes as well as throw them.

The defense is going to have to make it easier for them. Short fields, turnovers, and keeping the score low are going to be the order of the day for the Jets to go into the bye week with a win.
