Another Young Running Back

It is way too soon for the New York Giants to be thinking about life beyond Saquon Barkley. But since Saquon is dealing with a rare injury, the Giants have their next guy up.

If Saquon does play it won’t be for long. Also, the Giants know what they have in Jonathan Stewart. He has little left to prove.

So, with the two of them penciled in for minimum action, it opens up a lot of reps and playing time for the multi player battle for third string running back.

More from Empire Writes Back

The guy who has been already, but will officially cement himself as someone to watch, is a guy who the Giants got a small dosage of last year in Wayne Gallman.

Gallman needs this opportunity a lot. He has the chance to be part of what can be a great Giants running back core for a long time.

He will get the opportunity to shine and he could easily turn a lot more heads on Friday night vs the Lions.

The Giants running back position is the least open position on the team. Even the special teams units are fighting for spots. However, Gallman can still make the running back position battle interesting.
