Running back depth is not too shabby.

LeSean McCoy, is without an ounce of doubt, the heart and soul of the Buffalo Bills’ offense. The Bills do not really have any other proven stars on this side of the ball and “Shady” has been and will be the guy.

However, the biggest concern is not the fact that he just turned 30, that is separate. It is that his off the field issues may or may not result in a suspension.

No one quite knows yet what will happen to him. All we know is that Shady has been the only guaranteed starter and top player on this team for the last four off seasons.

Now, there is a sliver of doubt around that position and it is concerning for Bills fans.

Even though Shady is looking great in camp and is still this team’s starter, the Bills need to be ready to act were something to happen to him with all this extra stuff going on.

Despite McCoy being far and away the best player on the Bills, their running back depth behind him is not all that razor-thin.

The running core behind him might not be as talented combined, but it is not all that thin.

Against the Browns, the Bills will show this. Shady will get his traditional pre-season reps but after that there is plenty of room for others to shine.

Marcus Murphy, Chris Ivory, and even Keith Ford will be getting reps and playing time as the game goes on.

That is not a star-studded cast but Ivory should be exactly who we think he is and Marcus Murphy busted onto the scene last year and can only get better.

So, the Bills need Shady. Badly. But against the Browns it is important to know that there are at least enough guys behind him who can play.
