New York Giants: Jalen Ramsey is wrong about Eli Manning

Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback, Jalen Ramsey, thinks that New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning isn’t good. However, he is wrong. Eli  Manning is a great quarterback.

New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning is probably used to getting criticized. On Wednesday, he was criticized not by his teammates, the media, or Giants fans, but by, of all people Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey.

In an interview with Clay Skipper of GQ, Ramsey ripped some quarterbacks and praised some quarterbacks. Manning was one of the quarterbacks that Ramsey doesn’t like. Here’s what Ramsey said about Manning:

"“Eli [Manning]… It’s not really Eli. I think it’s Odell [Beckham, Jr.]. I won’t say Eli’s good, I’ll say Odell’s good. When asked about Ramsey’s comments Manning said that he had no comment. He then fired back at Ramsey by pretending he didn’t know who Ramsey was by asking “Who?”

Are you kidding me? How can you say that Eli isn’t good? Jalen must be delusional.

Manning’s teammates, Patrick Omameh and Eli Apple, among others, came to the quarterback defense. Omameh, who is a former teammate of Ramsey’s told Paul Schwartz of the New York Post:

"“The man is a consummate professional and just a natural leader. You are around him, you just get the sense this guy, he’s been here before, and he has. He carries that with him. He’s a guy that knows how to get stuff done, and as an offense you can respond to that.’’"

Apple told Schwartz:

"“Eli got here because he’s a hard worker, he’s a great quarterback. He’s somebody that’s very accurate, he watches a lot of film, puts a lot of time in. He definitely has the talent, even now, he’s still very cerebral in the game. He’s still a great quarterback.’’"

Sorry Jalen, but you’re wrong about Eli. Eli has won two Super Bowls and was Super Bowl MVP in both of those wins. He is a future Hall of Famer, so I don’t see how you can say that Eli isn’t good.

However I must admit that Jalen is right and Manning’s connection with OBJ. Manning has better numbers when Beckham is on the field than when he isn’t.

With Beckham, Manning has a 63.3 completion percentage, 66 touchdowns, 29 interceptions, a 91.5 passer rating and a 56.1 quarterback rating.

Without Beckham, Manning has a 60.4 completion percentage, 14 touchdowns, 14 interceptions, a 75.0 passer rating, and a 40.4 quarterback rating. So, Jalen was right about Manning and OBJ’s connection but wrong about Eli as a quarterback.

The Giants open the season against Ramsey and the Jaguars. So, Eli will be able to show Ramsey then just how good he is. Nothing better than adding a little drama to the matchup.
