3. Audition him to help with “bullpenning”

The final of the three reasons has to do with more the postseason and the last few games of the regular season than anything else.

Having Adams stretched out to help with a “Johnny Wholestaff” in one of the last games during the regular season in order to rest certain pitchers could still result in the Yankees getting a win if the bullpen could get back on track.

This could also help out in the American League Wild Card Game. If the Yankees decided to say, throw CC Sabathia or J.A. Happ in the Wild Card Game, Adams could help stretch the game to a few of the top relievers such as David Robertson, Zach Britton, and Aroldis Chapman.

Adams might have only made one start but he is actually a key piece to how the Yankees can approach the playoffs and last few days of the season. This is the time of the year where everyone needs to step up and play a part.

That is why the Yanks need to allow Adams to try to do his part. He can eat up innings, which he has already proven he can do, and help other guys rest up and be fresh simply by just being here.

This will all only work if the bullpen turns it around but Adams can be a guy to come in and do just that. He can give more starters rest so they can go longer in their starts thus relying on the bullpen less.

It will be interesting to see what the Yanks do when the rosters expand and what the Yanks do when the postseason picture becomes more clear. Regardless, having Chance Adams get another chance is more beneficial than hurtful.
