More from Empire Writes Back

OK folks, it was early when I wrote this, don’t blame me for stating the obvious. After all, I did say I would on page one.

This is a reason to be pumped up about the game all by itself. Who isn’t excited about the future stepping on the field for the first time?

Sam Darnold finally gets to show us all what he can do once the lights come on. The holdout is behind us, he will get a lot of time tonight.

So, off we go. It’s time, my friends.

What do we expect tonight? Don’t expect perfection, ladies and gentlemen. There may be some ugly throws and head-scratching moments.

But look for a guy that isn’t afraid of what is in front of him. The progress he has made so far is indicative of a guy that won’t look lost.

Watch and see how he makes his reads. See if he locks in on one receiver or is able to move off to others as he has done in practice.

Darnold is going to have every opportunity to start when the season opens. It begins tonight and it will be exciting to watch.
