Number 1 Season

The New Jersey Devils thought they had a goalie problem last year when their guy, Cory Schneider, went down for a long time with an injury.

The injury was still a problem but one that was easily solved. Keith Kinkaid filled in as the full-time goalie and did a great job.

The team was somehow always able to rally around him or he was able to rally around them. It was incredible to see how they finished out the regular season.

More from New Jersey Devils

Although the playoffs ended up being a whole different demon for Kinkaid, it is hard to put any of that on him when the whole Devils team was simply unmatched.

With Schneider still injured Keith Kinkaid will likely take back that number one goalie spot. The Devils even kept their goaltending core together so Kinkaid will do more or less the same he did last year.

Except, it is fair to expect him to remain the number one goalie until he proves he cannot handle it. Schneider will be back at some point but if Kinkaid has the Devils rolling, just like he did last year, John Hynes showed he will keep number one in there.

The Devils are in a good spot goaltending wise and although Cory Schneider might be the de-facto number one goalie and leader, number one on the ice will be the number one goalie.

Expect Keith Kinkaid to get a lot of time as the starting goalie for the upcoming season in Newark.
