The New York Knicks need this draft to be one of their best ever. The talent is deep but it is ideal to get the David Fizdale era off to the right start. But as draft day approaches, it’s starting to look like a Bridges for New York.

The NBA Draft is just a few weeks away! This is one of the best times during the offseason. Teams are starting to host workouts and the GMs are starting to narrow down their list.

As for the New York Knicks, they are just as busy as everyone else. The team hosted Trae Young for a workout earlier this week and will continue to host more young talent.

Initially, I have been saying that the Knicks should make a trade in the draft to make a splash. However, as draft day nears that is starting to seem unlikely.

I am also high on Trae Young and think he is the perfect fit for the Knicks and playing in The Garden. But, there are too many teams in front of the Knicks that will likely get the Oklahoma guard.

So, it is finally coming together. The writing on the wall is starting to emerge itself. The Knicks seem poised to land one of the Bridges with the ninth pick.

It can be either Miles or Mikal Bridges. Here is the thing, getting either one of them would be just fine for the Knicks at this point.

Obviously, there is better talent this draft than these guys. The Knicks also do not really have a need for a guard. They already have an excessive amount.

However, they need defense. Defense is key with Mikal Bridges. It’s not that the Knicks were terrible on defense last year, it’s just that it is an area they can definitely improve on.

If at nine they select Mikal Bridges defense is, in my opinion, his specialty. His Villanova championships were carried by brilliant defensive schemes. Which he only got better at executing as he finished his career at ‘Nova.

Mikal Bridges is not the shooter like Trae Young but he still is effective. That is all the Knicks need. Another thing to note is his craft.

All of the Knicks guards are still “developing” right now. Mikal Bridges is farther ahead of them already in terms of basketball knowledge. His time with the brilliant Villanova coaching has set him up perfectly for success in the NBA.

Now for the other Bridges, Miles, he is a good “settle” too. He is not the complete player that Mikal is but is still solid. The good news is he is not technically a guard. He is better off playing forward like he did in school.

The thing that makes the most sense for Miles Bridges to the garden is how he plays. It is not always pretty but he is a showman. He likes dunks and showing off his athletic ability.

The Garden needs athletes who are not only good but can put on a show and make amazing plays.

The Bridges are different prospects for the most part. They play different styles too. But, they both come from winning programs and great coaching.

So, if the draft goes according to plan, or as projected, the Knicks might be seeing themselves drafting one of these two players.

Either way, Knicks fans should be okay with it. Despite the fact that Trae Young is being hyped up, it just does not seem like it in the cards for the Knicks.

The Knicks need to understand their system and see which player fits it best. But they also can’t be too set in stone on a system. That is whats been holding them back all these years. Remember “The Triangle?”

The Knicks just need to drat a great player. Someone who is humble and willing to work hard. They need to be good but also be ready for New York.

It is a big draft for the Knicks. One of the Bridges might just work for them. It is starting to look more like Mikal though.
