Tyler  Austin is happy to be back with the New York Yankees after his minor layoff. He has come back with a fury.

Tyler Austin is sort of back into his groove with the New York Yankees. There is a lot of depth and he needs to continue to earn his spot. There is a certain charismatic wrestling legend he compares to.

Showing his power as recently, despite a minor slump, Austin is a great sign of things to come. Austin has been on a complete tear this year. He comes in spot duty for a job that belongs to once future 1st baseman Greg Bird.

But, just like Austin’s teammate, Miguel Andujar, he has given the Yankees a cause to pause. The Yankees have plans laid out for Greg Bird and Brandon Drury. But these young Bombers have decided that they no longer are willing to wait for their turn in line.

Tyler Austin has provided everything the Yankees wanted in Greg Bird, thus far. Austin shows effort, power, is a great teammate and fits in with the youth movement.

More from Empire Writes Back

He may not be cracking beer cans over his head, much like WWE legend “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, but he has been consistently dropping a “Stone Cold Stunner” to the opposing pitchers. Knocking them out and down for the count.

If Austin can keep up this pace he may not have to worry about an intense position battle with Greg Bird.

The Yankees are a strong team. With all this talent surrounding the organization, they’ll be some tough choices to be made going forward as the summer heats up.

Use the Force Luke, I mean Sonny

Sonny Gray might finally be putting it together. When the Yankees were recently in Kansas City, the commentator made a joke when they were talking in the morning before his start. Gray compares himself to a Jedi in the way he attempts to mind trick himself into success.

That same game, Sonny Gray threw one of his best games, he worked efficiently and smoothly.

Also, on a positive note, Aaron Boone has entrusted Gray with Austin Romine. The Pairing is starting to reward the new manager. There is a flow that feels better and isn’t taking much time to work now.

Next: Gleyber will be the next star

With Sonny Gray his delivering his breaking pitches the way he has been,  he can be the most effective pitcher in the 3 or 4 spot.

Now, the Yankees can start feeling better about what they currently have and start giving an honest evaluation about what they need come the trade deadline.
