He Would Become Legendary in New York

We talk all the time about how a guy can come in and bring a championship to a city. Players are brought in to help a team take the next step. When Randy Moss was brought into New England, for example, he was supposed to bring the Patriots a title. An example that brings the point home is Mark Messier. He was brought to the Rangers to bring a Stanley Cup to New York and that is what he did.

What is Mark Messier now? He is a New York legend, that’s what he is. He is now one of the biggest figures in New York sports history. For anyone who has forgotten, the last time the Jets won a Super Bowl was in January of 1969. We all know how long this has been for the team. There are generations of Jets fans that only know of the Super Bowl by reading about it. It’s almost like reading about past presidents for some young Jets fans.

If Kirk Cousins comes to New York and gets it done, he will be a legend in New York sports history. Due to his past indiscretions, Joe Namath would be moved down the list in Jets history and Cousins would be at the top. He would go down in New York history with guys like Messier, Willis Reed, Derek Jeter, Curtis Martin and countless others. His football legacy would be set. That should be reason enough to come and take on the challenge.
