OLB. USC. Uchenna Nwosu. 30. Scouting Report. 3. player. Pick Analysis

As good as Bradley Chubb is, the New York Jets will have to do more to improve one of the worst pass rushing defenses in the league.

Gang Green had Jordan Jenkins, Josh Martin, and David Bass at outside linebacker in 2017 but Bass is now a free agent. With Leonard Williams, Steve McLendon, and Chubb on the defensive line, the Jets will need edge rushing outside linebackers.

More from New York Jets

Uchenna Nwosu is still fairly new to football, having started playing his sophomore year of high school, but he was meant to play the sport. Nwosu can rush the passer with an array of moves. He has the speed to bend the edge and the strength to use a bull rush.

Nwosu can also defend the run. Active hands keep blockers off of his frame and allow him to stack and shed and wrap up ball carriers.

Nwosu has enough athleticism to hold up in coverage but is at his best when rushing the passer.

Jon Dove of With the First Pick is a big fan of Nwosu and sees a bright future:

"Uchenna Nwosu is a solidly build edge defender who makes an impact in multiple ways. USC uses his skill set to rush the passer, set the edge against the run and drop in coverage. He has the potential to be an elite defender at the next level."

If the New York Jets are able to add Chubb and Nwosu to their pass rush, they won’t be at the bottom of the NFL’s sack leaders for long.
