Pick Analysis. Kerryon Johnson. player. 3. 31. Scouting Report. RB. Auburn

In order to fit Andrew Norwell and Cordy Glenn’s contracts into the Giants budget, certain players won’t be able to be re-signed. One such player could be Orleans Darkwa.

Darkwa won’t be an expensive free agent but every penny will count this offseason as the Giants don’t have a ton of money to spend but plenty of upgrades to make.

Luckily, there is a potential day one starter at running back who should be available in the third round. Kerryon Johnson is a three-down back who has received comparisons to Le’Veon Bell.

More from New York Giants

Johnson is a patient runner who can explode to the second level once he makes his move. He can catch the ball out of the backfield and pass protect.

Johnson runs hard and possesses a strong stiff arm. He has good balance and vision, consistently creating something out of nothing.

An NFC team regional scout told NFL.com that he agrees with the Bell comp:

"Sometimes he plays with that Le’Veon Bell style where he glides until he sees it and then ‘bang’. I thought he was a really competitive runner this year and he can play on all three downs so he has early value."

Johnson could start for the Giants or split carries with Wayne Gallman. New York also has Paul Perkins who can’t be counted out just yet.

By sticking with Eli Manning and trading with the Buffalo Bills, the New York Giants are able to add  Andrew Norwell, Cordy Glenn, Orlando Brown, Marcell Ateman, and Kerryon Johnson to their offense. Despite being 37 years old, surrounded by all that talent and in Pat Shurmur’s system, Manning should have a few years of quality football left in him.

Next: New York Giants 3-round mock draft 5.0

This is my favorite New York Giants 3-round mock draft so far. The trade with the Bills nets two offensive tackles, allows Big Blue to make five selections in the first three rounds, and gives them extra first and third-rounders in 2019. If they could get a trade like this set up soon, the Giants could address a lot of needs this offseason without having to spend too much money in free agency.

What do you think of this NFL mock draft? Is pick No. 21 too far to trade back to or does the trade package make it fair? Is Cordy Glenn worth trading for? What do you think of the players drafted by the Giants in this mock? Let me know in the comments below!
